Lets start with I changed out thr stock exhaust to true dual bassanini's
And a big sucker air filter. I ended up gaining some hp and torque. Gains were modest. I was thinking going to a bb kit and doing some cam work. Will doing that trash the warranty??

What ever made me think it was an 88 I'm glad I can get it to a 103. Have you guys found that more hp gains are made from 2 into 1 exhaust or the set up I have now with the true duals.

I'd do cams and head work with a good race tuner, before I went with the big bore kit, with out cams it's a waste of money for what you get. Either way you'll need a tuner or at least a new down load from H-D.

After I had the pipes and power commander installed had it dynoed and came out with just over 64 hp and just over 81 torque if I just did the cams and head work what do you suppose I could possibly gain without going with the bb kit

I'm not a fan of true duals for making power, had better luck with 2 into 1's. There are some guys on this site that have a lot of experience building up engines. i'm hoping they chime in. You'll probably get more power with heads and cams but it depends on how you ride the bike. I went with the big bore [95] no cams and stock mufflers. not a huge difference but it was enough for me.

well if it was my bike . and i had a 96 i would have the heads done in this fashion . 1.900 intake and leave the stock exhaust valve in place a serdi valve job to increese flow . set of chain drive tc2g cams . mike rolland grind drop in no push rods or spring work needed . 030 cometic gaskets . blend seats ports chambers . and a good tune . that bike will haul ass . torque monster !

OOps, something is wrong. My 09 with S.E. intake,S.E. slipons and H-D download pulls between 69.7 to 70.4 Hp and between 80.56 lbs ft and 81.4 lbs ft of torque on 3 seperate pulls. You need better than stock intake. Then biggest bang for your buck is some mid range cams. Ifn you wanna go all out bring lotsa cash.

JMO go SNS 106, why stop at 103 it's still a
cylinder and piston swap and the same money

Drop in SNS 551 easy start cams, high flow
    air filter.

Its efi so pick up a TTS mastertune and
program and ride and tune it.

Sure, that's a great way to go.But, He did mention investment limitations. Also the crank bearings on a 96TC should be changed to stronger ones, according to what I read, for that kind of buildup. A TC can really put out HP.n It's just question of $$$ SNS is a great place to go for advise on this. He should give them a call. 'Sure the guys there would give him the straight poop. Hey ask VeeTwin(Prodrag1320 on this forum) HE's a pro.
