AF Nurse - Brakes

    Couldn't reply to your PM, it won't let me for some reason about 50 messages, wondered if you have 50 messages stored I don't have any.

    You may need to clean out old messages or somethings going on here.

    To answer the question the z pads are street pads and the gold are racing, however you can run the gold on the street,

    The zpads don't have a break in procedure like the golds which require a specifc break in. I wouled opt for Z pads.

    Yes, AF Nurse had PM'd me about them and I couldn't reply I've fixed that problem now, there is a 50 message limit and apparantly the ones you send count against that limit.

    The zpads are exceptional, the gold are very very good but require break in procedure to be specifically followed. I have pm 6 piston front caliper that they only make in gold.

    On the rear PM4 piston I have z pads.

    Thanks for the info....will probably go with the z pad instead of the gold...don't think I want to worry about specific break in and REALLY not planning on doing any racing....so, that leaves me with z pads!!! Not sure when, but they sound great!

    LRB Z pads are good pads for normal and some abnormal abuse but they can be glazed if you get heavy on the brakes. I found that out on last years Bike Talk ride. Something about only having front brakes left and trying to haul a RK down from 60 to about 15 in a REAL short distance... I swapped the rear pads out for a new set and the rear brakes are back to normal.

    Z-Pads will not glaze or fade under normal riding conditions. I was hammering the RK using all the torque I could get and waiting to the last second to haul it down. This was in a futile attempt to pull away from "Sleepy" and SK. Sleepy ain't so "sleepy" when it comes to flicking a bagger around. I needed a berm to hook against!

    For those who are contemplating coming to the Bike Talk ride, I promise you that one of the best highlights is the ride up Coronado trail. HWY 161 from Morenci to Alpine has tons of twists and turns and goes from high desert to 9,000ft. This is one cool road with scenic views and those turns cause that wristtwistitis to kick in.

    Lyndall's customer service is top notch. I shot them an email to tell them I had severe squealing from the rear brake on my Dyna. I had just installed the brakes this past winter and the noise was terrible. They asked me to call a tool free number, first thing they asked was what my mailing address was then told me some replacements would be mailed tomorrow.
