2004 Heritage, V&H big-shots long, Screamin Eagle Air Cleaner kit. Recently installed the CVP stage 1 carb kit slow jet 48, main 190 and now getting huge raw gas smell from filter box/carb area. Took off air filter cover and it was soaked with gas. Took filter off to diagnose and it seems that when you crack the throttle an huge mist of gas sprays back out of the carb. Gas smell seems to happen more when you are riding more aggressively. Bike seems to run fine, however this gas smell all over my jeans and also spraying on side of bike is getting me down. Any suggestions? Thanks.

check the emulsion tube to see if it's pointed the right way - also check the float level as described in your shop manual. And if ya ain't got a shop manual get one - they are your best friend when ya need to work on the ride.
There have been several posts on here about this problem and you can check the archives to get more info on your carb also Ken has posted some great diagrams of the K-carb to help out.
If nothin else workes - PM ken and I'm sure he can get you started in the right direction.:)

tap the float bowl on the bottom
    handle of a screwdriver works
    float may be stuck....

How can you install the emulsion tube upside down? It only installs one way, or are we talking about 2 different things. I am thinking the emulsion tube is what the main jet screws into, no?

Had the float bowl off the other day and all seems good. The idea of adjusting float level is a touch intimidating. I believe the manual says you should have the carb at a 15-20 degree angle when adjusting?

Sent a reply to your private message. It could be a faulty accelerator pump or it's nozzle.

Thought I would fire in a quick response. At the beginning of 2011 riding season I changed from 48 to 46 pilot and 195 to 190 main jet. Mixture screw 3 turns out (is this cool?) Also noticed that oil was at the max line when bike was cold, so brought the level down so it was at the line when hot. Also changed the baffles on my V&H to the "quite baffles". With all of these minor changes, issues are no longer. Thanks for all your help last year Ken!!
