Hi everybody. New to forum. Have a quick question. I have a 2001 Sportster Sport with a cv carb. I want to know what will be the best air kit after installing the stage one carb tuner kit?

    Thanks,

Arlen Ness or S&S - would be a good choice. Also the HD SE kit is a good add on.

Thanks, Sarge. Just talked to a tech at JPCycles, and he mentioned the same.

I like the D&M Custom Cycle spike Series. I like the looks a lot and they work really well. :D

    Johnny,

Thanks for info. Had just ran across this type of air filter and am really impressed with the looks. I found one for around $200. Where did you get yours and how much did you pay for it? Also, how does it do in the rain?

    Thanks, Scott

I bought mine from a motorcycle wholesaler called Jireh Cycle. I got the elbow, cone, and filter for around 3 bills. I was supposed to order the mounting bracket too, but didn't so I had to get that directly from D&M, which is no big deal since they are only about 60 miles away from me. That bracket was $250. If you can get the whole set up for 200, I would take it. As far as the rain, I have only been caught in the rain once with it and did not have any problems. The filter is washable too, and is a K&N.

Check with Jamie at Fuelmoto and see what he has in stock.
Tell him you heard about him from Bike Talk he should visit the site.

He has some pretty good deals.

I like the carb technology better too. Easier to figure out what is going on with the fuel system. You are not kidding that it is cheeper.

I like the Carb on my 01 Springer way better than the 09 Ultra system. Simple, easy to work on.

Y'all can go trade yer truck and car in on one that has a carb. drive it for a while and see if you like going backwards.
You can tinker with it all you like.

A thundermax a/t is the best tuner.

I agree on EFI being a better way. My '08FLHX is the second Harley with EFI, and I've gotta say I wouldn't want anything else now. Instant starting when hot or cold; weather has zero effect; perfect idle--no stumble or having to re-start; no petcock to worry about flooding; better gas mileage.

Cars have been using EFI for many years now, and I don't think there is a single mfr. using carbs anymore. Also, we had a very long, very cold (-25F.) winter this year, with my bike sitting covered up for 6 months straight. I did remember to put fuel stabilizer in it in Oct. But it started instantly after sitting all that time. No previous bike I ever had was able to start that easily.
