AMA DSB: Herrin, No, DiSalvo Wins Crazy ‘Daytona 147’
When the smoke cleared Jason DiSalvo was declared the winner in what might have been the single most dramatic running of the Daytona 200 in its 70-year history.
He is riding for Latus Motors Harley Davidson from Portland OR. There racing Duccati's this year sense Harley discontinued the Buell.
George Latus is probably one happy dude tonight as his team pulled off the win.

Here is the rest of the story.

Odd how you can swap engines and
then still start the restart from the front,

JMO he should have gone to the back
everyone else has a 27 lap old engine
he's got a fresh powerplant, warmed up
    fresh oil, fresh plugs...

Then again who knows if they did it
right when they did the swap..

Yeah I have no problem with Latus, but if you are in any other sport, you change the engine it cannot be done during down time for the whole field such as a red flag, that is a major major advantage, Why not let them all come in, change gears, change shock settings, new tires, new trans, new more powerful engine from backup bike,

In Nascar or Sebring/24 HR Daytona you have to do the work while the field laps you, part of racing, you break you loose laps, that is fair to the ones that didnt' break.

During Red flag periods it's hands and wrenches off, you can get prepared, put everything where you need it for the job but you can't touch the machine...

By letting him swap engines they slapped the teams that built solid bikes that went the distance (JMO) and gave him an advantage.

Great for the team that won but might as well let him sit in the pits and watch, then let him start the race half way with a new bike,

How would one react say at Daytona if Jimmy Johnson blew and engine, NASCAR calls a red right at that time and let Jimmy bring out a new backup car and put him in pole position...

    Fans would scream...

They let Jeff Gordon win the Winston a few years back in a back up car, after a first lap crash took out 10-15 cars! The Winston(now Bud Shootout) was a none point race though just cash!!
