I keep having this slow primary chain inspection cover leak.

So far I've changed out the gasket during my last regular
fluid changes, and I changed out the gasket and hardware
this last time when I went all syn3.

Should I buy a new cover now? Every time I get ready to
go for a ride, I have to wipe down a small line of fluid..

    Anyone experience this issue before?

make sure all mating surfaces are spotless! i would also use a bit on the screws holding the plate, and torque to factory specs. i would put a thin layer of silicone sealer on both sides of the gasket before i laid out the cash for new covers...........jmo

I would probably get a different cover now. I noticed when I was taking a look at my chain that my cover did not fit just right. It is slightly bent, and I am sure that it from someone not tightening the screw up evenly. Mine is not leaking, but I am keeping a close eye on it.

yep JB right you have to tighten the screws up evenly & do as chuck said , just put the silacone on your finger tip & rub it on both sides of the gasket

The Derby cover is fine, the leak is in the inspection cover.
I ordered a new cover for it with new gasket and crome
hardware. The tech at my HD dealer begged me to not
use silicone on it lol. The cover is probably warped from what
    I'm gathering.

If that don't fix it try a James Gasket, they have a silicone bead along the gasket.
You will have to order it for yer year and year bike.

JB welding should be ok, the new bikes don't have the inspection cover.

and the new bikes have self adjusting primary chain tensioners.

Don't want to have to remove the whole cover to check the adjustment...:banghead:
