If you had a choice between only these two weapons, which would it be and why?
    1. Colt Defender
    2. Colt New Agent

I am still searching for another pistol and of course I don't know much about these two firearms other than reputation and price. Any input would be great. Thanks.

After looking online at some reviews from various people, it is clear that the New Agent is a very good gun, however they all point out that the gun is difficult to aim with with its "trench style" sites. They point out and say that the piece is accurate but just isn't meant range shooting. An up close and personal kind of gun. A carry gun.

I carry without a shell in the chamber. I practice to carry like the Israeli army does

Got 3 friends with Sigs. They never carry them.
And since they got springfields that is all they carry.

The New Agent comes in two different ways. With or without the Crimson Trace grips. I would opt for the Crimson Trace model. Looking at Gun Broker, the New Agent still commands over 85% of its retail on resale. Not bad.

If I was gonna spend that much money. I could look at a Kimber Ultra carry.
    Very accurate pistol.

But you get to when you carry all the time and the weapon is on your body.
Weight. Which weapon will I carry and keep on me.
If its in the car or somewhere else, you ARE NOT prepared. Don't care what kind of weapon you have, how much you paid for it. If you got a 3000.00 Wilson Combat which is one of the finest pistols made. Or a Desert Super Black eagle.
Your carry pistol that you can comfortably carry .
Is this just for showing off or bragging rights ?
Got a Buddy with over 30 pistols. But he only carry one.
Or is it really for personal protection.

And I have a friend that owns a gun store and shooting range in the country.
He can buy wholesale and carry whatever he wants.
And I know what it is.

But realize this. When you are put in the situation. The attacker ain't gonna give you time to go to yer car. He ain't gonna wait for you to get ready.
And it may happen before your brain realizes it has even happened.
I worked the streets as a serviceman for 42 yrs. Went everywhere in ever kind of weather and condition
And for your Personal carry weapon. Do you ming it getting dirty, scratched up.
Bluing worn off. Have you laying on it.
And after all that will if function flawlessly. If it won't , and you pull it.
Your Dead. Period. And you spent all the money, and talked about all the BS with everybody. For what. Ego.
Ego will not cut it if the time comes down to the end.
Yer either prepared or not prepared. There will only be one change.
And what you have on you that works will be it.
If you don't have it on you.
Hope you have some martial arts skills. Like Krav Maga or Aikido

Carry or nightstand. Even though it's a carry model
    will you carry it.

Both are heavy guns, lots of good lighter carry firearms,
SAO guns require you carry condition 1 or cocked and locked

If carry with a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked
is a concern, then consider a DA/SA or DAO (glock is considered DAO)
    firearm.

I"ve got a 1911 Carry S3 Sig, a lot like the kimber, but don't carry
it often, on the bike it's either the P320 or GLock 29, I don't care
if either falls out or gets dropped or if they take it after something happens
like I would an expensive hand gun.

Kimbers quality has gone into the crapper over the past few years,

It's most important to consider a few things in a carry and the first
is, will you actually carry it, if it's too heavy, or bulky, whatever the reason
    then you won't carry it.

If you have to have a 45, then a P320 compact in 45, or GLock 36
is a good option, I prefer 9mm or 10 mm, plenty of bang, twice the
ammo as 45. But carry what you like....

I have a XDs 3.8 45 by My lazy boy in the living room. Got a shotgun behind the door.
Got a shotgun behind the bedroom door. And a XDs 3.8 40 on the stand beside my bed.
Got the Xds 3.3 compact 45 on my side. sweat on it. Git dirt on it.
Wash the bike and truck and git it wet.
    Got the Bitone model.

    Bought it to carry.

You will never ever see it. Even with me just wearing a T shirt and it 100* outside.
The XDs 3.3 45 will fit in my blue jeans pocket.

If you get a new XDS in the essential kit.
It comes with a 5 ,and 6 round clip.
You can get a 7 round clip

I carry like the Mossad does.

My favorite carry is my Shield 9mm using hollow points. Biggest reason I like it I can carry it with a round in the chamber and put the safety on. I know that's a big no no with many who carry but I've found that it works well for me and I've never had the safety ever accidentally go back into the fire position. I also like double action with a long trigger pull like HRK. For weather that makes it hard to conceal I picked up a Ruger LCP in 380 using hollow points. Fits perfect in my front Jean pocket and when in the soft pouch you can't even tell. I tried the LCR in 38 but it stuck up a bit to far protruding a bit out the top of the pocket.
Even though we are a open carry state if you do its just an invitation to be harassed by some over zealous liberal who calls the police.

Bought the OL a Bersa Thunder UC Professional because of that reason.
Its in her Purse of in the truck.

The Bersa has shot every kind of ammo flawlessly that I have put in it.
The OL didn't like it when I showed it to her in the store. And she couldn't **** it in the store.
But since we have had the time for me and a buddy to explain the operations of it.
Now she can **** it easily, And knows how to decock it. And how she can take the safety off and pull the trigger and shoot it.
She loves this pistol. She is very accurate with this pistol too.
She shot about 170 rounds the 1st day.
And about 100 rounds the 2nd day.
And we have gone to a neighbors and shot it more.
And she has more shells on the table to go shoot it.
    We just been busy.

Also got another neighbor that bought this pistol for his wife. And she can shoot the heck out of it.

Should have showed her the Shield in 9mm it's a much smaller pistol. The Bersa is nice but a bit large for concealed carry.

Sorry, I have never liked S&W pistols. So I will not carry one.
Just like I do not like Sig Pistols. So I will not carry one.
    Neighbor had a sig.
I introduced him to Springfield. He has a Xds 3.8 Sub compact 9mm.
He keeps the 19 round clip in.
He has a sig he don't carry anymore.

And he carries a XDs 3.3 45 with a 6 round clip. This is his main pistol.

Well that's OK my Shield is far more accurate than my XDS 9mm was and no longer have the XDS in 9mm. Do have the XDS 4 inch in 45 it's OK but like my Sig better, each to their own I guess. My Sig Ultra compact in 45 with the 3 inch barrel is as an old saying goes the cats meow. And I'm not continually getting recall notices on the Sig or Shield like that XDS 3.3 which I just got another one day before yesterday. Went on their web site and let em know that I no longer own it.

Know a heck of a lot of people that own XDS.
They carried them years before the recall. And after the recall.
Mine is anewer model. I have shot it and shot it and shot it.
So have my neighbors. If it was gonna shoot more than once. It would of done it.

A pistol is not Jinxed just because it got on a Recall.

And you do not have to pur a 2" group with a carry pistol
If you hit them once or twice , you willl get the opportunity to get another shot.
And no matter how accurate your pistol is.
When you are in the situation, and your adreline flowing. Your accuaracy will decrease big time.
Everybody has a pistol that will fit their hand different.
