I just want to understand the full cost of the work I'm getting done. I plan on talking to my mechanic but working 12 hour days makes that hard. I'm having my turn signal module replaced & it's costing $520...$100 for the module & $60 an hour for labor so why is it so high...does it really take that long? Any ideas?

sounds like your at a HD dealer HD = hunderd dollors , & the $60 HR for labor sounds a bit low for a dealer , but should only take about two hours tops

I think that is low for a dealer price, must be an independent shop. I would think that price is a little high myself. I would ask him exactly what it is that he has to do. If it is just a swap, that is way too high. Just ask more questions so you can get a better idea and let us know.

Part of that high cost could be due to the year of your bike - it's gettin harder to find OEM parts for the older bikes.
If ya can - do it yourself - it only takes a couple of hours and can be done on the weekend. If your mechanicly challenged then get a bud to help who knows how to wrench and don't forget the 6 pac. Anytime ya can do your own work on yer ride is almost as good as ridin it - besides the more you know about what makes it tick the less hassles ya have when on the road. :)

No. The module (from Badlands Motorcycle Products via J&P) is less than $80. No way it takes over 7 hours to put in. Call 'em on this B.S. And good luck!

That's nonsense....get a service manual for your bike and do it yourself. You will feel much better knowing that you did it yourself, and you'll save a ton of cash....JMO

The turn signal module on my '90 Heritage is a $3.00 Wagner flasher unit(push the button on it flashes, lift your thumb,it stops)...should only be 2-3 hrs and a dozen cold ones to install an aftermarket module...shouldn't take any longer to do it on a FLHS
