    i got this yamaha engine some time ago, but cant remember what bike it came from , can anyone id bike model/ size engine etc ?

    That 22000cm3 actually refers to the quantity of motor oil to put in, that is why it is right near the dipstick.

    Agree. I guess it is helpful, to keep from dangerously overfilling, but the location is strange. Ya'd think it would be right around the fill hole, instead of offset a good bit.

    What really surprised me, though, is how varied in CCs Yamaha's XJ line of inline 4 cylinder bikes has been, from 400cc to 1300cc.
