Don't have one, but I've ridden several in the summer heat,
hate the lowers can't be removed, a stupid design.

Lots of heat, engines going into heat management cycle

I don't have any heat issues on my right foot even on 100F days. I think the bike runs cooler with the water cooled exhaust heads. Personally I really like the way it runs and the lower heat issues.
The only thing I don't like is when sitting in heavy traffic or stopped at a light the new bikes are designed to go into heat management when the outside temp reaches 80F. You can turn it off easy enough though.

Yeah but you guys at 100 are also at 20% humidity, no where near the same as here in 90 degree with 60% humidity and 115 real feel temp.

He thinks the heat is caused by the catilytic converter heating up?

    That and restrictive baffles

Contact fullsac performance for either a cat cut out header exchange or the full sac stepped header w/o cat, and do the exchange on the mufflers to the ones that they do with open baffle cores.

    Louder, and cooler...

I went on EBay and picked up a stock header that has the cat cut out of it then re-welded. Guy does a real good job on the new welds. Cost is now at 125.00 but I got last summer for 70.00.

By the way HRK we had 88F day today with 70% humidity and bike is still running cooler. Only poroblem I had today is my push to talk button would stick on and piss off the others guys.

The heat comes from the cat not the fact that it has lowers or a radiator. The lowers have a very sizable vent that can be opened to allow air past your leg. I love the warmth on cold mornings but when it heats up I open the vents.

Sometimes I can feel my right leg getting hotter than my left but when I reach down to feel my pants it's really not that hot so I think it's just in my head, besides I have highway pegs I can go to anyway.

I'm not going to spend more money removing the cat since it is such a minor issue and the bike sounds great with the screaming eagle slipons and has plenty of power. It just seems stupid to mess with it since it does clean the air for the guy behind me and I spent money for it.

Well when I opened mine up and had the Cat removed and then put the Fulsac cores in my SE mufflers it has difinitely gained power and sounds so much better.
I love the sound now. The Cats do difinitely create more heat. Where the cat is located it does raise the temp of the oil due to its location. The dealer ran a test before and after of oil temps.

On Friday a group of us were leading 48 other HD riders on the Wooden Bridges ride which was part of the Pacific Northwest HOG Rally. It was a 227 mile round trip ride. Everything was going fine until we had to return back to the rally. The rally was held at the PRI race track which is located in North Portland which is one of the busiest areas during rush hour traffic.
There was a huge accident on I-205 heading back in so we had to take an alternate route onto I-5 and so was everyone else. By then the outside temps were in the 80's and we got stuck in stop and go traffic. Bikes were overheating oil pressures were dropping down to 5PSI. Mine with the water cooled exhaust heads was running at 26PSI. Maddogs 110 was really getting hot and he started to have lifter noises. Other none water cooled exhaust head bikes were experiencing similar issues. We finally made it across the I-405 bridge and we took a side street exit. Several bikes from out of state and a bunch of Canadian women took a wrong turn. They got lost and one was on her CB (yes she was riding solo on a new Ultra) asking for help. I broke off from the main pack and went off to find them. I radioed for them to park and I would be there. Sure enough I found 14 lost riders. They followed me through streets in Portland and I got them back to the race track.

My water cooled exhaust head bike performed perfect. Was it hot you bet it was. However those radiators worked as the fans would kick in keeping it cooler. Thus I was able to make it through that traffic nightmare gather up those lost riders and get them back safely.
Thank you Harley for a great motorcycle.

You do realize that we were asked to help out and our job was toe lead that ride. Got nothing to do with wanting to ride with them but helping out.
