Wife and I went to the Portland International Auto Show today. Some nice pricy autos. Chevy cars seemed uncomfortable, Ford Taurus very nice. Checked out some 55,000 F-150  very nice but man the prices.

Saw the new Vipor here is a pic and really liked the Dodge Challenger with the big Hemi motor.

Man I guess I am too old for this plastic engine cover stuff. I know, I know there is so much new electronic stuff and other gizmos on the Hemis that they would look like the inside of an old computer. I just miss the old school look.
Chevy?! I wouldn't buy one just because they took my money to survive and Ford didn't.

The Challenger was the only one this 6'1" 215 pound body could get into easily. They were nice. The other one I really liked was the Mustang convertible but was a little harder to get into. Heard some good news, Ford is going to close its Fusion plant in Mexico and move it back to the USA.:)

Your right about the plastic cover over the engines, seems they are all doing it. Here is a pic of the engine of that same Challenger. I wouldn't want o work on it, couldn't get into it.

    Nice truck.

I'd love to have a Cummins diesel but the cheap Dodge wrapper doesn't cut it.

I loved the pulling power of my Dodge but the way the rest of the truck crumbled pi$$ed me off and I sold it with 80k on it. Strangely I have no problem getting 250k-300k out of Chevy trucks. The last 3 I've bought had over 125k on them and had about 300k on em' when I sold them still running strong.

And since I have to work on what I buy I ain't buying a Ford.

I really like Chevy trucks or GM pickups and probably what I would buy again.

used to be that Chevs were highly regarded and fetched a better dollar than ford or Dodge up this way.Now Ford and Ram sell better. I just have an issue with the bailouts still and Ford has the tailgate step which my wife really liked..nobody else had it so it ain't hard to figure out which one came home.

Everyone seems to like the diesel trucks, but I wonder how they feel about the high maintenance cost of owning one.

My previous '99 Chevy had the bulletproof 327 (5.3 liter), and was still getting 25mpg even with 278,000 miles on it. Never once in the shop for repairs. Not bad for a full-size truck used hard for construction work. This new one has the same motor.

Than again Maddog just had to replace his F-150 pickup with only 76,000 miles on it and said he did all the scheduled maintenance on it. Never pulled anything super heavy either. He said, Ford has a week link in that F-150 transmission.
Never had a issue with any Chevy tranny in all the years I drove them.

I rebuilt a lot of Ford and Dodge trannies when I had my transmission shop years ago. The only GM truck transmissions we did most of the time in the GM flavor were the older 350 tranny. Not saying Ford is not a good truck, have looked at the new 150's myself lately. The one I liked was 55,000, must of been the sunroof it had that did it, never had a pickup before with a sunroof. :D
