Well, I finally made it back, and riding the scoot. I think I will name it the rain maker, as it seems to do that well. I like riding in fall, as the temps are a bit cooler, and the scenery is wonderful. I just hate the rain. I can handle cool, I can handle rain, but the two together is just miserable.

I did get a sunny afternoon and went out riding with my son. Here are some pics from around Tim's Hill County Park in Northern Wisconsin.

Yes, that was the front of my son's ride. It is a '87 Yamaha Virago 700. We got it at a good price as a starter bike. He is hinting that I should buy a new Harley, so he can have mine!

Yes, I know about the leaves. Not as slippery as ice, but close. No problem when they are dry, though.

I really like those fall colors especially around the lake. Wife and I are leaving Friday for the fall Light House Run along the Oregon coast. Will try to get some pics and post them.

I have been to Oregon a few times, though not on a bike. Beautiful state, looking forward to the pics.

Nice pictures. Sorry to hear about cool and rain.

I'm going riding around southern England this weekend, no great distances, but the weather looks to be cool and mostly sunny. Should be nice. Will try to get some pictures of UK forests this time of year.

I am looking forward to the pics. As far as weather, it happens. It is just funny, as I did an extended stay out of the US to take advantage of a tax loophole, so most of my summer was spent in SE Asia. While I was away, the weather here was generally warmer and dryer than normal. As soon as I return, it gets cool and wet, go figure!

I should have another week or so of decent riding before the winter begins to settle in.

I agree with you when it comes to rain. I don't mind a little sprinkle, especially on a hot summers day but cool and wet never make for a good mix.

Nice pics Ashley. Some interesting rocks and such. Who put those rocks there and why?

Buck, I live 18 miles from the park, and I do a lot of afternoon rides around there as I like the curvy roads, and in the winter I do a bit of snowshoeing at the park, and in all these years, I have never actually climbed that tower!

Might have to do it someday.

Those are some very ancient stones and earthworks. The rocks Hilary is stood in front of were put there by humans after having been dragged there up hills and stuff. They were raised somewhere around 4,500 to 5,000 years ago. Behind them are the eastern burial chambers of West Kennet Long Barrow. The ones in the field are part of Avebury Circle as are the earthworks, these are around 5,000 years old. Silbury Hill which is also human constructed and not a natural feature dates at around 4,500 years old. These are some of the oldest and most important neolithic places in England, are of course World Heritage sites. There is a mass of other really old stuff in that area but none that is very visible or good for photographs.
