I am going to put new Tires on my Dyna, and was wondering what everyone thought of the Avon Venom Tires. I have read in a few places that they crack, but cannot seem to verify it.

Also, does anyone know the largest size rear Tire you can put on a Dyna?

Been running them for 8 years, never a problem, take a ton of abuse, handle 100 times better than dunlops, quiet, smooth.

Tire is a bit softer than a dunlap, so it will wear out a little quicker if you are hard on them but they bite in the corners and the bike will lean over quicker much better handling.

Never cracked one that I have had on the bike.

Metz are very good as well, more rounded

Look at a dunlop and the others you'll see the difference HD dunlops are almost square on the bottom, you'd think they never thought a bike was going around a corner.

I have got about 8 to 10 on my rear, 10 being on the edge of the tire.

You have to keep them aired up higher than Dunlops, if you are at 38 on a dunlop you need to be about 45 with an avon.

They will wear faster no doubt.

Metz should last longer a bit harder compound. I may try them next time as I have to do the front and rear.

I run Venom X (stock sizes 21 and 16) on my 99 Sporty, unreal handling especially is the corners. Much softer than Bumlops, better ride and only slightly less mileage...Get 'em... Stroker

Avons are great tires for stickin to the road and work better in colder and wet climites. If it gits hot where you are they won't last as long.
I 2nd the metzler for a all around tire. I usually replace my tire when its 60% gone also. I will not run them till the thread is near the bottom. The farther to the bottom of the thread it gits on the tire the worse the tire ride and handles. Nothin rides like a new tire.
