Awesome opportunity!

I applied to get into a writer's retreat in Aspen. It's a big deal. You have to pay and submit a sample of what you're working on, and only 12 people get accepted for each section. I sent in the first 10 pages of Shovelhead Redemption, and I was chosen - number 8 out of 70.

I'm in a workshop with Erica Jong (Fear of Flying and a bunch of other best sellers) and get at least two meetings with agents and editors while I'm there. This will be a huge help in my stumbling block. I don't want to screw this up, and the workshop is specifically to help the writer make the memoir into a page turner.

I got a few bucks for a scholarship, but I need to come up with quite a bit more. If anyone's interested in a t-shirt quilt or some other kind of quilt (or a 100th Anniversary ladies denim jacket - I'm selling all kinds of stuff), let me know.

If you're kind of new here, I've been trying to write this book for a few years. It's based around a solo cross-country trip I took back in 2007. At this point, I'll probably be including some stuff from last year's trip where I rode to Vermont to see my newborn granddaughter and then went to Texas and met Chuck, Cardboard and Chrome.

Good job Abby, now lets get that book finished so I'll have something good to read this winter!!
