I have a 1975 Sportty.I get a backfire once in awhile,I did notice when I put "sea foam" in the tank I don't get the back fire.I have HI-4 electronic ignition and a carb from Ken...I was thinking it was running to lean...but want to correct this issue before it's riding season here in the ...cold, snowy state of Michigan...Thanks in advance...Al

Ironheads & Michigan winters do NOT get along :gah:

Ironheads run hotter than Evo's & really, both need to be warmed up before they'll run right - most assuredly before you do any adjusting on the carb. Just sit on the bike & make "vroom-vroom" sounds for now :roflmao: Ironheads do warm up quicker, but still, it'll take a long time before the engine's warmed up enough to tune & the colder, denser air you've got now will throw you off, so you'll have to do it again when Spring comes anyway.

I did try different gas brands and I always run premiun, thats what I thought it was at first...but didn't change anything,I'm going to put new intake seals in it...I do every spring.I have drag pipes with baffles and AR cones,I know there not the best, but didn't do this b4.I will check the turns out,on the carb ,but I did mess with it trying to get rid of the backfire....and I have a #48 jet in it..I was thinking it was too lean. The exhaust clamps I keep real tight..I even use that copper silicone (high temp) when I put my pipes on...It did it hot and it has done it after a few miles of ridding,so that is throwing me off too.I did purchase a alternator kit for it,it will give me more amps...I still got some time b4 ridding season ..since there's still snow on the ground and it is still real cold out...thanks for the advise...Al
