Sad to hear and alcohol or drugs and riding just don't mix. I knew a guy who did the same thing only with drugs.

When I'm on my bike the only thing I drink is water, pop, or coffee. No way I'm I going to chance my life when it comes to alcohol.

I don't even have one because one leads to two and so on for me. Then it just becomes a really bad druken chocolate martini night. I get drunk fast so I just don't trust myself drinking and riding my bike.

I drink and bar hop too, but I can drink lots-o-beers and be fine. I hardly ever get drunk and if I do I won't ride a cycle. That's just plain stupid!

    Don't drink and ride, never...
Just isn't smart, and of course JMO

No matter how well you justify it, just one here or later
    is IMO one to many.

It's your choice, but remember your choice might hurt someone else...

Heck I'll have several scotches sitting in the garage or at home
but never drink and drive, too much risk, too much at stake

Buddy is a DUI attorney, makes a ton of money on DUI cases
$5K minimum fee.... Said its going to run you at least $15K to
    beat a DUI>.

You make it sound easy HotRoadKng.
Say you are out with friends riding around having a great time. Had a beer, now what do you do?
Leave your bike and take the bus home? Come on bud, gimme a break.
In Florida there are bars on almost every corner. People drink all day, all night, all the time. That's the way it is down here, it's hot, people drink beer, people drive home. You should know that living in Daytona Beach.
Don't get drunk that's the answer.
Do you think all the thousands of bikers at Daytona bike week are not having a beer in the florida sun and then riding their cycles around town?
Oh and by the way, part of the major problem this country has and the reason it's so screwed up is coming from greedy attorneys. That's just my humble opinion of course.
I hope you buddy isn't one of those greedy cha-bags.

Nope I never said it was easy, nothing in life you value or earn is cheap easy or free...

Tons of folks at bike week ride around having drinks, I'm just not one of them
I used to ride with some people that were drink to ride ride to drink, don't ride with them anymore.

If they want to have drinks and sit around chewing the fat that's fine, I just decide to ride home a different way, don't need company to ride, been on the road alone before :D

Not my scene, if they wish to do it, it's their choice, but the
    consequences are pretty stiff.

Buddy that is an attorney gets people OFF of dui's so he'd be your friend if you get stopped but only if you pay. Capitalism, he'll help you divorce your ol'lady too if you want LOL

He didn't make the law or open up the beer and make anyone
drink it, he gets you out of jail, in a cab or family car and on way
home, and then keeps you from spending a few years in the pokey.

But it's not cheap, and he's not the most expensive guy.

I'm not judging anyone, just saying what works for me, if your
friends want to drink and ride, all you gotta do if you don't
want to drink is make up crap, that you have Montezuma revenge or upset stomach, or on medication can't have alcohol, whatever
or just say "no nothing for me" take the ribbing, smile and
    it's over in a second...

Tommyc, why can't you drink a coke, or ice tea and still have a good time. They will understand and maybe even follow your lead. The time to drink is when the bike or cage is put away. JMHO :)

no drinking and riding here, or riding with people who have been drinking, seen to many bad things happen when I was younger. Not saying I've never done just saying I don't do it any more, besides one beer don't quinch the thirst, how's that go one's to many and 100 an't enough, or something like that. here you go straight to jail for DUI. with $10,000.00 bail, I know had to bail my youngest son out last year.

After you ride the bike, a cold beer taste really good.
And when you stop and git something to eat, it taste even better.

There is nothin wrong with drinkin a couple beers when you go out riding. As long as you do not git drunk and you are not impaired..

Lemon water is very refreshing when it is hot out too! On a hot day, I'll wait till I get home to have that cold drink, that's JMO! I guess everyone to their own, I just value my life to even take the chance!
