I have an 09 street glide. Front wheel bearings went bad at about 4000 miles. It was makeing a grinding noise on a long left turn. They replaced it under warrranty. At about 7000 miles a grinding on a left turn and they replaced the rear wheel bearings. Each time the noise stopped. At 8000 miles the noise is back in the front wheel on left turn. My question is my daughter gave me a gold colored bell I attached to my frame. Could it be the wrong color? Or does HD have that many bad parts. Also It is garage kept and only hand wash it. Ive checked on the internet and a lot of others have had the same problem. Be sure to check your wheel bearings before the warranty runs out. Pull in the clutch and shut the engine off and turn left then turn right on a back road or a closed parking lot.
    Later Ole Ted.

    Hi Cowboy
The dealer did the work. And told me It must be a couple of bad bearings. I think China
just forgot to harden the bearings. I wish I could have got an old one. If you could scratch a ball or race with a file we would know the problem.

On my Sportster I am noticing some front wheel noise when I am coming to a stop. Nothing real alarming but it is noticeable. Is this a sign of a bearing going bad or may be a tad dry?

If your bearing is a "tad dry" you probably want to take it out, clean it and more than likely change it out. dry is never good. If I have noise coming from the front wheel area other than the brake disc rubbing on the rotor, I'd be looking at this very closely.

BOth my 11 and buddies 11 CVO RG had the front bearings go bad,
funny too as I had replaced the front wheel with a different but brand
new HD black and chrome wheel from a dealer with new dealer installed bearings.

Might be a bad batch of bearings, heard the same, but it could also
be from improper install of axle and tq on the axle...

Up date: The last time I took it to the dealer they said it was the caliper rotter making the noise. I gess they pryed the caliper open and took the bike out for a ride. When I got on the bike I did'nt use the brake. And I couldnt hear the noise. After using the front break the noise came back. Now every time pass a car the noise is there. I fixed it.I turned my hearing aids off when riding my street glide.

Yea I think you got bad wheel bearing.
You probably feel them riding rough, and they might come apart on you.
