Changed my baffles in my Rush slip-ons from 2" to 1.50". The 2" were just to loud. I had the mixture screw out 1 7/8 out from the 1 3/4 starting point with the 2" baffles. It was running pretty good. Changed the baffles and it started coughing off idle from a stop.I turned it out a 1/8 at a time and i'm at 2 1/4 out and its still the same. The air temp in tennessee it 90-95. How far do I go on turning the mixture screw before I do something else? It runs good after the cough and the plugs looks light tan. :wtf:

The smaller baffles may actually be doing a better job at reducing reversion and scavenging exhaust gases, thus improving flow. This could be why you are needing to add more turns to the mixture screw.

You didn't mention which pilot jet you have but if you reach 3 turns on the screw then go one size larger. Leave the main jet alone for now.

Ken I purchased the kit from your site. I changed from a 45 jet to a 48 jet and a 190 to a 195 jet. It has a SE air cleaner and Rush slip-ons with 1.50 baffles in them. Runs good but coughs off idle once in awhile . I'm at 2 1/4 truns out on the mixture screw now. How much farther should I go out before I Change to a different jet? Whats the next size? I'll need to get one. Thanks :)

I have this problem too, mostly when down shifting. I have a S&S air cleaner with SE pipes and the Stage One kit purchased from Ken. I have turned the screw out just about 3 turns and I still get the backfire thru the carb. I will have to try the larger jet.

Thanks nh.... I just turned it out again and I'm at 2 3/8 turns out. Seems to have help road to work and no backfire through the carb. It was 68 degrees this morn. I'll know more this afternoon.. 90 degrees! I am wondering if I should go another 1/8th on the screw?? Maybe ken will read this and let me know his thoughts.
