Excuse my ignorance here, I just bought my first cruiser, an 01 Victory V92C. The previous owner put on some slipons with no baffles on the bike and drilled the airbox. The exhaust is REALLY loud and honestly doesn't sound that great. Also, Denver has that new sond ordinance. What I need to find out is how to go about installing baffles. I don't know what brand the slipons are, and in the J & P catalog, the largest baffles they list say they are for 2.25" OD pipes. Mine look like 2.5" OD. I know I don't have much info to offer, but can anyone offer me any guidance on what I should do to tame the noise down a little? My boss rides a Road King, when I told him I thought they were too loud he said " They're never too loud." After I fired it up he said "You might get a ticket with those!"

    Thanks!

not sure what your pipes look like, but one way to quiet pipes is to drill a hole in the backside, take a washer nearly the same as the id of the pipe, weld it to the bolt and slip it into the hole. double nut it and you can adjust it like a flue in a fireplace....hope this helps a bit.....:)

No matter what you do to a set of slipons, they will not pass the new Denver Ordinance. To meet the law requirements the muffler must have the original equipment certification stamp on the muffler. That means no after market exhausts are allowed on motorcycles any longer. This ordinance does not effect any other type of motor vehicle. Unfortunatly there are other cities working to enact laws just like this across the country. If you are trying to pass the Denver cops scrutiny, you need to get a set of stock mufflers and forget sounding like a motorcycle as we know them.

I understand that completely. However, a set of slipons with baffles is much less likely to get me noticed compared to the straight pipes that the bike currently has. The law was passed so that they wouldn't have to have a dB meter on hand to take action. They are not just randomly inspecting pipes, you gotta get their attention before they see what you have.
