Gday folks, just looking for a bit of help getting my ace up and running as it broke down as i started it this morning. it shorted a battery on me this morning in this fashion, the reds went on, the fuel pump pumped a little bit of fuel in but seemed to be quite less than usual, i placed on the choke and pushed ignition, the engine turned over but would not fire, i put the choke up a little more and tried again, then i hear a reasonably loud (enough to hear) snap or crack. then the reds would not come on at all. Battery was dead.

When I installed a new one the reds come on, the light turns on, but the fuel pump will not work, tha alternator doesnt work - when I try to start it the oil and fuel lights just show up, but no engine activity...

I checked the fuses, and the ones on the relay switch all seem to be ok, im wondering if there is another fuse for the fuel pump in a different location and what about the alternator??

    Cheers
All help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have the service manual ? Sounds like a elec problem in the system or a wire rubber raw & shorting out , when you said your Ace I thought a Honda Ace 1100 they have depends on year two small fuse blocks

Did you clean both cable ends? If dirty enough power will get threw for the lights to come on but not enough to crank the engine , also clean the two tips on the fuse , double check all grounds as well

Yeah I checked the connections( i hope) and the terminals. all clean enough, changed the starter relay main fuse and when i turned the key the fuel pump worked.. (once) so i put the panel back on and tried again.. nothing... cant believe it, then i took the fuse out and put it back in but with the ignition ON accidently, there was a spark on the connections of the fuse, so at least i know power is going through the fuse,.. but it still could be a faulty starter relay couldnt it? sigh

Do you have a Multi-meter to check voltages?
