Just goes to show. Harley has different limits on the tolerances for their Pinion shaft runout. Do the upgraded cam plate and git a upgraded Oil pump and check yer cam shoes every 25,000 miles.
Change yer oil and ride her.

Every bike eventually has it's problems. This guy sounds like an alarmist to me. If riders keep up on the maintenance on their bikes, no matter what brand, they are increasing the odds in their favor for trouble free riding.

Every company will produce a lemon once in a while. Nothing to get one's bowels in an uproar about.;)

Did just over 400 miles yesterday on my 88B to a 95 SE TC. Temps in the 90's, humidity too. sat in bumper to bumper, at times the engine was acting up from overheating. Brought rpm up to run oil faster and cool a little more. Several times ran over 80mph for up to an hour in between bumper to bumper traffic. At times accelerated to 100 mph. Got 27,000 on her (bought her with 8500 two years ago).
No oil missing and never missed a beat. Ran effin GREAT!
This winter I'll check the shoes. If worn, I will gladly do the upgrades. Why a Harley? "If I need to explain, you wouldn't understand".
