Belt drive conversion

    can anyone tell me if it is possible to do an belt drive conversion on an 1983 ironhead

    I can't see why you couldn't, you would have several parts to change.

    Of course you'd need the proper belt, and I'd say get one for a similar model
    and then pulleys both trans and rear drive pulley, the key would be to get a
    proper set to fit the bike and then you need the right tooth count belt.

    The issues to watch for are compatibility of the pulley to the wheel
    and trans main shaft mounting points, as long as they will fit there
    otherwise you might need a different rear wheel...

    If there's a will there's a way...a lot of work though on a Sportie...not a lot of belt drive kits available for Sporties and even less for Ironheads,you'd pretty much be on your own...you'd have to make an inner primary for it and block off the tranny 'cause you'll still need oil in there...here's some pic's of what you'd be getting into...these are Evo Sporties,notice the inner primary...(there's 2 pages)
