Bendix carb rebuild

    Say folks, I am rebuilding the carb on my SHOVELHEAD and have everything back together except for the accelerator pump.The gasket on the bottom is to big to fit in to the cup. I understand the why but how can i get the damn thing seated? A friend suggested soaking it in gasoline but won't the gas cause the leather to swell causing it to be larger than it already is? Someone else suggested KY jelly since it is water soluble. Would a light coat of oil work as well? As always all advice is appreciated.:witsend:

    i have used oil in the past..........worked for me.....

    WD-40 is what it took...that and some choice words that questioned the seal's ancestry and sexual orientation....
