    Best idea yet!

Patriotic Retirement - This Would Work:

This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I thought this was the BEST idea.

I think this guy nailed it!

    Dear Mr.President,

    Patriotic retirement:

    There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force;

pay them $1 million a piece severance with stipulations:

    1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

    2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

    3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed.

All this and it's still cheaper than the "bailout

It's a good idea! - but it wouldn't work cause the polictions(sp) would be out of a job.
On the other hand - is that a bad thing? Maybe this country would move ahead instead of being bogged down in a bunch of laws that only serve the few they were designed for - such as the oil industry - the auto industry - the railroads and others.

When it sounds to good to be true..... it usually is.

St. Petersburg Times Newspaper is proly one of those paper companies that are about to fold cause it would seem that they sold their calculators.

50 million times 1 million is more than even the Chinese have today.

I think if the young people took over the work force and the government we would be in worse condition.

We would probably be a Socialist government, the skill level would be lost in all jobs, and the young would kill SSN for all of us so they don't have to pay into it. The US would be Dependant on foreign made auto's and bikes. Our pride would be sold out and gone. Have you talked to some of these younger people lately, most of them are scary.

I would argue that, as their is a lot of american pride in our american young, the problems lay with those that are infultrating our youths mind and manipulating their thoughts, such as the older generation of teachers, and parents that have hidden agendas, because they are against/for war, free trade, imagration, tech., meat, oil energy, etc. they learn from their predicessors, and the last 50 years has bred, a lot more embasills, than we care to admit, and we slide the blame and problems to our youth to fix.....with what we tought them, now again who do you fear. we should fear ourselves as a whole not the older gen. not the youth not the blacks not the whites nor anyone inbetween, we have built this situation ourselves by not being informed, by running on an agenda that is for ourselves not the betterment of the country, and we are passing these values down. and believe it or not the youth of today are just as patriotic and concerned with the future we are leaving them as we are.

Argue the point if you want but I recently talked to two young people in their thirties that both said you older people need to die so there is Social security for us when we retire. They don't care about the fact that older people put in their dues to.

Sounds like a movie that came out several years ago - don't remeber the name but it had to do with anybody over thirty gettin recycled into food so the younger gen could survive.
Not to worry tho - we'll fiqure out a way to kill ourselves soon enough. Been workin on it for centuries. If that don't work then the man upstairs will probably come up with some new virus to do it for us.
Scary thought - but then nobody lives forever.

as they say "some peoples children", they obviously are ignorant to how our society functions but two shouldn't define the whole. (not that they are the only two wastes upon society)

When I was startin out we had a concept of payin your dues at work. You started out with the crummy jobs and worked your way up.

Now I'm workin with alot of younger people whose attitude is "get out of my way". They see me as nothin but an obstacle to their progress.

Gee what happens to them when they get to my age? Think they will see it the same way?

Well if someone gave me a big wad of cash. Sure. I'd quit my job, let some youngster have it. I'd buy a new home (but not in the UK). Not going to happen though.

Summer is coming. Time to go riding. Time to ignore the politicians and have fun. The sound of a Harley is so much better that the sound of political spin.

I can agree that our pres is not a peach and I sure as heck didn't vote for him but I have to point out the obvious, "he's acting like a immature young person" so at what point then are you classifing young ? and it is obviously younger than obama, cause he's only "acting like one" so hes an "older part of the problem" correct? It's not the young that got him elected etheir, it was the young and old alike those wanting to be a supporter of the first AA pres, but the biggest supporter was the AA's them selves and most ONLY voted because of his skin color, I can not deny the fact that a lot of the younger gen did vote not for obama but against bush. as for american cars, their great better than any other in my opinion, and I do pay much more to own one. and A final note I don't like whats happening to my country ethier, but I vote and participate, so do my youngsters, and thier friends, and I just pray to god that we can get on the right track with the help of our new generation, I call it hope.
