I'm gonna see if my rememberer remembers how to post pics of my build thus far, based on a '77 shovel motor. It's been a looong, slooow process, nearly 2years in the making. I'm hoping to be riding this summer.

OK, here goes. After you post your comments, click on "Go Advanced" below. When the screen comes up for attachments, click "browse". Go to your pics and click the ones you want, then click "upload". Wait for the upload (slow), then close the window when you see them loaded. Go to the bottom of your posted comment page and click "post".

Mac the Wife spends more time in front of her computer than in the kitchen! She has made a couple of tries already, but my ol' dinosaur laptop is too slow for her. I am going to try downsizing the pics, maybe that's whats keeping them from downloading. Right now they are 3000 x 4000 thingamajigs. I know how to use "paint".

Thanks Alex, I already have instructions for that part. I think my pics are too big.

O.K., one more time. This is just the mock up; there's nothing inside the primary yet. Thus far, I've been able to use all Harley original stuff as far as the engine/tranny/primary goes. Only stuff not original is the Paughco frame, mustang tank, flat fender & seat. Thinking of changing the seat to an unsprung La Pera Cobra solo.

I guess I have to keep writing something. Tranny is a mid 70's ratchet. The kicker shaft is a little wobbly, but serviceable, I think. I'm fabricating some aluminum pieces to cover the holes in the primary as I'll not be using the starter.

Here's what it looks like now . . . I'm trying to get the missing parts together so I can button this baby up. It's mostly a few washers, a primary bearing, a gasket set & a backing plate for the chain tensioner. Anybody got any of these parts let me know. I have a complete listing in the WTB forum.

That just what I told him above.

I like your scoot Joshbob! Is there no front fender planned? I really like the front-end and gaiters.

Thanks. No front fender - I took off all the lugs last year; spent 4 days shaving the legs by hand - no lathe. That, my friend, was a giant leap of faith, but they turned out pretty good.

Because I have an older style oil tank (30's to 60's), it won't fit without bumping the primary. So, I ground off the tab on the side of it which was the main impediment. (Not sure what the tab was used for; maybe a chain guard mount?) Still no dice. It appears I'll have to raise it around 13/16" by installing a pair of bushings between the mounting bracket on the bike and the tank mounts. I'll also fabricate a rear brace, weld it to the tank and bolt it to the rear fender. Then I'll have about 1/16" clearance between the frame and top of the tank, and about 1/8" between the bottom of the tank and the top of the primary. QUESTION: Are those enough clearances top & bottom? (I'm trying to get around not having to buy another tank, fittings, etc.) When I get back from work, I'll post some pics.

I can't imagine how you accomplished this without machine tools--but they look great.

The 1/16" clearance bothers me. It may contact the motor with vibration, unless your shovel does'nt vibrate.

If the engine trans and primary are rigid mounted to the frame they are not going to
    move anywhere

If you had a rubber mount like an FL then clearance will be an issue

But if the oil tank is mounted to the frame as well I don't think it's going to matter.
