Picked up brake pads today, front and back. Damn $100 ! Were they always that expensive? Why so expensive? Truck pads are only $20 and you get 70,000 miles out of them. Anyway, do I have to do front and back or can I get by with just back or front? I figure I would replace the back while I was replacing the tire but I really don't want to do the front unless I have to, not at $50 a pair.

Replace them as needed. They (front or rear) will not know you did one or the other.

Lyndall Racing Brakes - The worlds best Brake Pads & Composite Rotors --- Home ---

best brake pads and brake parts in the industry bar none
will give a discount for board members of HTT so mention HTT

    No dust or squeal...

I check the pads but it's a good time labor and time wise to replace the rear pads when you replace the tire, mainly because you're in the job that far anyway.

Fronts just inspect every 10K to be sure they are up to snuff, nothing like changing a tire then 2000 miles later needing to change the rear brake pads

If you don't want to spend the money on Lyndall brake pads.

    Order some EBC brake pads.

I've used EBC pads on several makes of bikes and always had good luck and wear with them.

Lyndall's are worth the little extra, I got twice the wear out of them than I did EBC, and lyndalls don't leave all that dust on your wheels.

I put on Brembos late last year. Had my usuals in hand but thought what the hey...this guy was going on about them at a local shop. Same price supposedly but a better brake than the HD.(35 to 40 bucks) I cannot stand them. Think they may be too hard or something, squeak till, holler, howl and all that, and I have never had a pad do that before on any bike I have ever changed or owned. They are coming off soon. I am fed up. with them. Cleaned etc it just ain't working so good on there no matter what I have done to get them to stop. Bike stops fine just howling and all gets to me.
Discs are just another set of stock brand.

If your rotor gets warped that may cause them to squeal. When it gets real dry around here sometimes my rear brake makes a little noise, and I’ve got floating rotors with Lyndall pads.

nope.. all good not sure what is going on.Not gonna deal with it. First last and only time. They will be Skeet shooting material by next weekend. If I could soak them in bacon grease just to make them smell good while I used them I'd still be shooting them full of holes out a trap machine. Now that would be a good video to see . Maybe I can get a few pics!!! Change too many brakes and rotors to worry.
