I just finished rebuilding my first brit bike and think i goofed somewhere, because i forgot to test the electrical output of the rotor. When i try to start the bike i get no spark, i,ve tested all the wiring, capasitor, coils, rectifier, all is ok. Does anyone know how to test the rotor and sator without taking the whole thing apart?

A general test fo a stator would be to take an ohm meter, put one lead on 1 wire or socket of the 2 wire plug or socket and the other to the engine case...R should be infinite...repeat for other wire or socket, should be infinite....if you get a reading ,you have a short, next put the leads from the ohm meter on both wires from the stator, you should get a low R reading(check your manual for the R value) if you get too high a reading or infinite(no continuity) stator is no good, you have a broken wire in it....hope this helps...
    Is this similar to yours...

I ask the year cause BSA had a positive ground bike for a few years so you have to be careful so you don't short it out

Had a Lucas ignition system in my TR-7 many years ago. Spent the night in the median on HWY 101 near the Army Street exit in San Fran 'cuz that POS. Went back to bikes thereafter!
