Buell & Sportster afficionados, myself included, just hate to see Buell go, especially after winning the AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike season championship last September & the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship last November. And many, myself included, think Buell's closing has more to do with mis-management than the economy, since Buells aren't all that expensive & cost less than some of their competitors - MSRP for the least expensive XB9 Lightning is $8999, and for the most expensive 1125R, $12,499.

H-D never has let Erik Buell (former H-D engineer) run the show the way he wanted to & H-D never has done anything that I've seen to promote the bikes, which are more technologically advanced in some areas, including chassis & brakes, than any other bike on the planet. Sure, it's a tough market, not only due to the economy overall, but competing against 4-cylinder Yamahas, etc. with V-Twin bikes, but I believe there's enough of a market for an American-made true sport bike to keep Buell going. However, H-D wanted to cut costs & an easy way to do that was to just drop the Buell line. :banghead:
