3 years ago I bought an s&s super E carb and put on my 1988 flhs, last year I had to replace the case on my motor. Now I am getting about 1/2 the gas mileage that I was getting before I replaced the case...Does any one have any suggestions for me as to why this is happening...
    Thank you

Changing out the cases wouldn't cause that. Something else was changed or not put back right during the rebuild & there are several things which could be a factor, including carb jetting change, cam change, intake manifold leak, ignition timing is off, etc. How does the engine run compared to the way it did before, and what was the reason the cases needed to be replaced?

The reason I replaced the case was I cracked it replacing the jugs.. the case had a helicoil in it...I checked and all hoses and lines are hooked up...The other day a friend that does some work on bikes out of his shed stopped by and listened to the motor..he seems to think that the bladder in the fuel pump has a hole in it...the bike runs great, slight hesitation when you get on the throttle, other than that no problems...

There is no fuel pump on that bike & it doesn't need one. Sounds like the carb just needs to be cleaned, adjusted & perhaps re-jetted. S&S carbs are easy to work on & here are tips on getting it set right:

Thank you for the info and for the information...I quoted the guy wrong instead of saying fuel pump...I meant the bladder on the accelerator pump...
The information you gave me also worked perfectly for my wifes 1979 XLS, when you would do from 50mph to 70mph it would cut out and when you were crusing at about 65mph every so often it would spudder a bit..:witsend:

Glad the tips were helpful. As to the accellerator pump, if the diaphragm in it is bad, that would give you a hesitation when trying to accellerate, but it would not make the engine use too much fuel - in fact it wouldn't be getting enough when you hit the throttle. Bad fuel mileage can be caused by several things, but if the carb is the reason, it's probably jetted too rich. And that's very common with H-D engines - everybody (especially dealers) tends to use jets that are too big. Float level set too high is another possibility. But those tips should get you dialed in. And here's the S&S manual for the "Super E":
