Geez, OL and I are flying to Phoenix for the Memorial WE to visit 3 of the 4 sons. I was looking forward to renting a bike and ride with two of them. Temps are expected to be just over 100. That is not conducive to riding! Damn! :cussing:

100 degrees but dry heat, ride up into the mountains and it will cool off,
take water and plenty of it, way different than that humidity pool long island you're used to being outdoors in.

Played golf in AZ in the summer, same in vegas very dry heat, you'll dehydrate quickly...

I've been there many times. No matter how you cut it, 104 in the sun on a bike is brutal. Getting to the mountains is about 2 hrs. If you haven't been to the Phoenix area lately your not familar with the traffic. So many Californicaters and Canucks moved there it's like LA. Stop and go for ever.

Yep, Phoenix is AZ's Los Angeles. Traffic sucks there, big time. But blaming Canucks without noting the horrible contribution from the southern border country is a bit unfair, ya think?

Take route 17 straight to Flagstaff. You will love it. It has some of the best scenery in the country.

You'll be cooling down in less than an hour.

I flew into Phoenix and picked up a bike a few years ago. Was 114 riding down the highway towards LA. LA was around 88 and felt cool.
I kept a water bottle with me up front. The water got real warm but kept on drinking. Pulled into Bly CA and think it was even hotter there. Went to a fast food joint and went into the restroom then soaked my T-shirt and Denim long sleeve shirt in a sink, man did that feel good putting it on. Yea, keep well hydrated down in that country. Rode in Northern AZ and it was pretty nice, but not Phoenix.

I agree , ay. But I really didn't want to go there... again! :banghead:

Besides, it's the SUVs, Buicks, Cadillacs, BMW's M'Benz's, Infinitys, Lexus' that are the traffic and the poor manners on the road and buying the homes. The northern border immigrants are carpet bagging the homes that are in short sale, and foreclosure and their dollar is going farther to boot. The CA people can't afford to live in CA so they are finding the deals in AZ. Four years ago a 2000 sf home would average about $275,000 or more. Now you can get a 3000 sf home for about $110,000 in the East valley. Two of my sons are police officers there and sure they have a problem with the southern border jumpers, but the traffic problems and summones are mostly CA and CAN derived.

Quit frankly I don't think I care if I ever ride in that kind of heat ever again, man 114 F feels like your riding through a bake oven, well actually you are. The bike I was riding that day was water cooled, probably a good thing to.

Interesting thoughts. There are some smoking deals on houses in the Phoenix area and to be honest really tempting..I've looked..a buddy from work has bought in..his brother has a place there. If I was 10-15 years younger I'd be buying the place and I may kick myself in the ass for not doing so but I'm not sure how long it's gonna take to turn around and don't really want to get in a non residential tax problem. There are diffirent ways of looking at non residents buying up homes. I feel genuinely bad for the lunchpail guy [like me] who bought the place to be the primary residence to raise the family and provide shelter and got caught in the bubble burst. the person that used the house as an ATM I have little sympathy for..sucks to be you. I know it's kind of crappy having people from other states or countries buy in but these people pay taxes and that money stays in the community. If I'm a resident and I have a choice of having the home next to me occupied or having it boarded up..I'd rather have the neighbor..and hopefully the supply dries up and there's only one way to go for the value of your home..if half the houses in your neighborhood are empty..you ain't gonna sell and your taxes will go up as the tax base is spread out amoungst fewer residents. Big City USA does nothing for me but I can't lie..I've been looking at land in southern Utah..it ain't near as cheap as the big cities that crashed. I love the area though.

I hear New Jersey has a bigger problem with border jumpers than Arizona...... cept they're not Mexicans they're New Yorkers.

I remember the slogan "keep Florida green" back in the 60's. Behind the words was a big stack of greenbacks.
