Bye Bye SE exhaust

    As of May 30th, SE exhausts are obsolete. V&H and Supertrapp shipped their last orders out last month. According to my source, H-D will not sell any exhaust over 80db (stock).

    maybe they're going to figure out how to get the power to the ground..quietly. Everyone else has got the handle on it..it's time.

    Yea, you know HD will never do that. Look at all of the aftermarket sales they would loose in people upgrading to 95 inch and bigger with all the cams.

    SE exhaust is a goner. Many CA H-D dealers are not doing any hop up work from what I hear. EPA is going to apply the same rules to H-D as they apply to Ford dealers for example. Buy a new Mustang and you can get several EPA approved SVO packages installed by the dealer. Above that, no dealer here will install any non EPA compliant and approved product.

    Funny thing is, H-D was one of the big efforts behind getting this new rule approved. I expect that they figured that Big Dog etc would take a hit. They might not have fully appreciated what the rule would mean to them.

    We are already getting calls for anything with about the same DBA as SE and loads more cam sales etc.

    CD, Are you saying that HD will not sell you a 95 inch kit with cams and install it? If that is the case then like Bob said, they better figure out how to get the power to the ground on a stock bike. Glad I bought mine when I did.:rolleyes:

    FLHT Biker, hope that you mean that you have a 1960's or earlier bike.... my understanding is that SOME of the EPA garbage is dating back to 70's and 80's...... and those of us with newer bikes are just lucky so far as the enforcement hasn't been there......:( I may be wrong on that, but that is what I have heard.....

    Marc, That is not what I am saying. Several posters from CA and in different forums have all reported that their CA dealers will not do SE work or any mods that make the bike non EPA compliant.

    Unless we left a bike bone stock we have all been violating EPA rules since about 1975.

    The EPA has just been turning the other "cheek" for a very long time.

    I am certain that no dealer of any type wants to pay a big fine for installing non compliant parts. That is why they will probably increase the engine from 88" to 95" stock. They can then produce "steet legal" kits that can be installed just as Ford does.

    This is interesting. I asked the service dept. recently if installing the 95 inch kit would void my warranty on the 06 Ultra and they said no as long as you don't do cams and race tuner.


    I wonder if HD will ever compete with Honda for example in right out of the box HP.

    Why..when they make so much money selling parts afterwards to do the job. I think that's a good reason they started with the 88" and sell the 95" as an aftermarket..more money. I can't imagine a 95" stock would cost that much more than an 88" stock.
