    It seems like every two years I get a speeding ticket :(
    As I study for my test for the online traffic school (speeding) I found this ;

    * It is legal to share a lane with a motorcycle, by allowing the motorcycle to travel between cars. Most motorcycles have air cooled engines and so allowing them to keep moving when other cars have stopped is necessary to prevent engine overheating. *

    I thought it was interesting that it talks about overheating. I have always thought about it but I never thought they would put the overheating issue in the CA drivers hand book. :D

    I live in southern California also and I just finished my online traffic course for speeding no less. I was stopped by a LA county sheriff for doing approximately 75 in a 55. He was riding one of those new BMW's. I don't mine the school, but that fine is what kills you. This was my first ticket in about ten years, all for speeding. Some people just never learn.

    It's illegal here in Oregon, course just about everything is except for breathing, might be next.

    I got a speeding ticket 2 years ago in January, doing 5 over through a stupid little town, less than 500 first ticket in over twenty years.

    Motorcycle cop hiding behind a small building with a radar gun. Couldn't believe this guy (short guy attitude plus a cop attitude) 5 over and now the insurance companies hold it over my head for 3 years. I was on the edge of town where the highway starts heading up a very steep hill for 5 miles. :rant: :gah:

    I told the cop he needs to get his fu@king ass in town where the school zone is and do some good instead of harassing people as they are starting up that hill. Without a smile and face getting red he hands me the ticket. :cussing:

    Got a ticket for lane-splitting here in Las Vegas a couple of years ago by a mc cop. Said it wasn't safe and only cops can lane-split. I was used to riding in California and only did it when it was really hot out, which it was that day. When it's 105ยบ and the traffic is backed up where it'd take 3 light changes to get through it gets pretty uncomfortable.

    I had to take a class in California years ago to keep a speeding ticket from being on my record and was told the lane-splitting rule was to allow a motorcyclist to avoid breathing exhaust fumes in heavy traffic. Never heard about the air-cooled engine being part of it. First time I've seen where something was written about it.

    There are quite a few of these online traffic shools. Who knows who writes this stuff or where they get it, but the I liked the "engine cooling" excuse.

    Every time I've gotten a speeding ticket in CA I am way out in butt fuc nowhere. I was out in the desert last month on 247 north of Yucca Valley. This road just begs you to open it up. I was livin large at 95 mph on the way to pioneer village. After a beer I started back and was keeping it a conservative 80 mph when a cop came over the hill at me. I told her I was just trying to find the smooth spot :roflmao: :roflmao: She didn't like that too much. She made some comment about old bikes don't usually go that fast. I'm thinking, what? Old? Its a 98 ? Is that old? and its all clean WTF.. I realized I better not talk too much with beer on my breath so I just smiled.

    The ticket was $212.00. The privilege to go to traffic school was another $54.00 and the online traffic school was about $25.00 and that was the first time I ever got pulled over on the scoot.
