I recently bought a used Dyna that has a S&S super E, a forcewinder pro intake, Vance & Hines big radius, a screamin eagle module and coil, Taylor 10 MM wires and E-3 plugs . It runs great and has been well cared for with nothing but the best brands added, the only thing I don't know about is if the cam has been changed. What is the best way to know if it's been changed and what brand it might be?

i dont know your mechanical abilitys, but you can measure the lift of the cams by pulling the push tubes and measure the rollers as they lift and fall........or pull the rocker boxes and do the same........

Evo bike? Pull exhaust and cover for cam area. Then pull cam gear. Number should be visible on end of cam. No guarantee though

You can't pull the cam cover off an Evo without releasing the spring pressure off the cam either by loosening the rocker arms or by collapsing the adjustable pushrods(if it has adjustable rods in it's a sign the cam was changed)Cam cover on an Evo is part of the structure,it's not just a cover. You could lift the pushrod tubes and check for adjustable rods, but a lot of bolt in cams can use stock rods. If you going to go through all that, then pull the cam....

Too many tc cam jobs I haven't had the cover off an evo in 5 years LOL

LIfting the pushrod tubes and taking slack off the pushrods would be wise..

I do what I want. And that's usually changing it.

Stock just don't cut it. EPA is messing things up and the California emmisions is gonna be even bader. Everthing that starts in California goes everywhere else and messed the rest of us up.

    YOu have to do something.

Figured that, brain fart....alotta paint fumes flying around your place too...;)
Didn't want to see the OP just pull the nose cone off, altho I've read on HTT it can be done on an Evo if the notch in the cam end is pointing to the 5 O'clock position, but that wouldn't be for the faint of heart....had a guy here do that( just pulled nose cone off and changed the cam on his wife's heritage)I couldn't believe it... that was before I read the thread on HTT about it....he got lucky the first time....not so lucky when he tried it on his own bike....messed up his valve train pretty good, but at least he didn't get hit with any flying parts:rolleyes:
