Cam Timing

    If a cam has the timing of 20 BTDC, I am assuming that it is better than a cam that has a timing designation of 18 BTDC. This comparison means that the cam with 20 BTDC is open just a little bit before the 18? Correct??

    If you are referring to intake valve timing, it could be better, could be worse; depends on the resulting cylinder pressure which is a function of other factors. A 2* earlier close just means that the intake valve closes earlier and will build higher cylinder pressure for combustion because it has captured more A/F in the cylinder.
