Got a Redlight camera ticket about 3-4 yrs ago.
Made a right hand turn on right.
Contacted a Attorney 3 yrs ago. He said it was a Civil matter don't pay the ticket
Well I've renewed my tag for 3 yrs.
Today I went to renew it again.
The City of HOuston has put a lock on my registration of my Van.
The City of Houston is in Harris County.
I am in Polk County. 4 Counties away. I was told till I bring proof I paid the ticket I couldn't renew my tag.
Called a Attorney today. Waitin on a phone call back.
Guess I will have to put the Van up and not drive it till I can find legal advise on this ticket.
I would rather sell the Van to somebody else and pay the taxes to put it in their name than to give the City of Houston any money.
    I'm lookin for a way.
I will pay more to git out of the ticket than the ticket if there is a way.
Its the point of being Screwed by the City of HOuston.

When I had my El Camino stored in my shop and was doing engine work on it. Wouldn't run and I figured no point in licensing it until I could do the work and it would run again. Got a notice from the state saying I had to renew it and put insurance on it. I sent them a letter saying it was up on blocks and would not run. Would you believe I got a letter back stating unless I put insurance on it and got new tags that they would pull my drivers license because I couldn't afford insurance. I also had to get an attorney involved and a few nasty letters later I agreed to put basic insurance on it but did not have to put new tags on it until it was in running condition.
What a deal they have kind of like a police state.
Sometimes we do have to bend a little even though it really gets you mad.
If you went to Houston for some reason and got pulled over for something else could you be arrested for back unpaid tickets?

Let's see, ya got a ticket that - instead of fighting or paying - you talked to a lawyer about. He said don't pay it (did he charge ya for that?)

And now you need another lawyer, because the first gave ya crap advice?

Seems like Houston ain't the main problem. Seems lawyers are. I've fought a good many tickets in my time, and won most of the time, or at least got the $$ reduced (once got a 125+ in a 55mph dropped to 65 in a 55).

Take a deep breath and figure out whether you want to pay lawyers more, or Houston. Or get a court date and deal with it in person.

Red light cameras suck, but so does getting hit by someone running a red light.

Got Free Advise from Paul Kubosh brother who is also a attorney.
This has been a big deal for about 5 or so years. The City of Houston has to pay ATS in Arizona at least 3000.00 a month per redlight camera, and if they git a bunch of tickets, ATS gits more money.
Money ain't the real deal on the ticket. Its I'm being screwed by the City of Houston and ATS.
The city of houston gits millions of redlight camera tickets a month.
They city of Houston tried to block the voters from having the right to vote on having the redlight camera taken down.
Its comin up for vote. And if the city slicker of houston votes to keep em.
I will feel sorry for them. Cause its about our rights.
And I'm a full blooded Rebel. If I'm being screwed at alll cost I want to fight for my rights.
I don't lay down and pay dead.
According to the State. Its AGAINST THE LAW TO HAVE REDLIGHT CAMERAS.
But over something like MONEY, it has taken the front seat to a broken economy.
If I can't beat the ticket with a Lawyer. I will take the truck to another state.
Pay to have it and insurance put in somebody else name and drive it for a couple years and then bring it back and put it back in my name.

    Wow

kinda with Red Rider on this one..and if the cameras are illegal, one would have to think that someone would have challenged their existence by now. How is it that a traffic violation is not reconciled untill after 3 years? Up this way camera indicated infractions are sent to the registered owner's address and it is a financial penalty and no points deducted. I'd be having a chat with with your original lawyer as to what your next course of action should be...on his dime. I'ma tell you this..all lawyers are not created equal..know this. good luck

Sometimes ya have to swallow your pride cause going to jail and having a criminal record won't be worth it. You would be better to swallow your pride and mail the ticket in. Then, do things legally to stop the red light tickets.

The Lady down the street did the same thing as me. She made a right hand turn on Red and it gave her a ticket. She got scared and paid the ticket.

This redlight camera was challegened in Alabama and taken to court. It was said it was unconstitutional fora Redlight Camera to give you a ticket cause it wasn't witnessed by a Police officer in Person.
There the people voted the camera out and they voted that no Police officer

And it seems like y'all just want me to pay a ticket from a Machine so the City of HOuston can keep on makin big bucks for nothin.
Guess you would like it like it is in the United Kingdom.
The cameras are in the stop signs and all. You git speed tickets and runnin stop sign ticket in the mail to you.
To me this would be a really bad thing.
As it is now when you got to court, you don't see a judge in person.
You see him on a computer screen in Houston.

Time for Robo Cop I guess......
A machine to come to yer house to pick you up for someting you did wrong....

They are doing them here, big fight
state law prohibits red light and speeding cameras
and cities from writing moving violations as the cameras
are not officers of the law.

So the cities have been making them
the same as a parking violation, no points
    no moving violation, just money..

Big fight going on, they need to be removed,
the facts show more accidents with cameras
    than without..

Yes people run lights, but more DON"T run them
than do... So lets subject the majority to
the potential for a huge fine

BTW, Make them review the ticket,
most times the Right on Red ticket
is camera error from what I hear,
you roll a tire over the line and it tags
you as running the light even though
you came to a complete stop.

    Talked to the attorney.
He said in so many words.''
Pay the ticket to git yer truck released or wait till after November 4th to see how the people vote.
Or go to a county that don't reconize the City of HOuston's bullst.
He said this is a Civil matter.
He basically said off the books, Its against the State Law to put redlight cameras up.
But the City of Houston is makin so many millions of dollars off it they have hired high level attorneys to make a Civil matter legal to stop you from being able to git yer tags in some counties. I'm just one of the counties that will hold yer tag..

The attorney said the City of Houston tried to Block the right of the citizens of HOuston from being able to vote on the right to vote the redlight cameras out.

The Redlight cameras has made the City of Houston a Powerful City against suing private citizens with all the money they have paid to attorneys.

And the State is sittin back doing nothin.

So I'm waitin on after November, they I might take my truck somewhere else and register it.
And if it don't stop were going to loose even more rights..........

Ex Mayor Bill White brought the cameras in.
Vote him in as Govenor and the Redlight cameras will be state wide..

    Wanna Bet........

yep technology is catching up so cities can make more money

So to beat it we just don't go to areas where they have those meters and
spend money, they have two red light cameras here, people are fighting them
I stay away from the intersections.

    Downtown they are all over...

We no longer go downtown and spend money..

    Politicians are dumbazzes
