I was wandering if anyone knows what material is used in the slide, is it solid aluminum, or or an alloy like pot metal. I installed a stage 1 jet kit, but still having alot of coughing thru carb. The slide hole had already been drilled over size, and was wandering if it could be tig welded shut and redrilled

Welcome to the forum! I bought a new slide (vacuum piston) for mine from the Harley dealership, special order. It was about $50. Mine had been drilled, too, by a previous owner. My advice also is to get a new one. Make sure the vacuum piston spring hasn't been shortened. Sometimes people shorten them several turns in an attempt to get more performance from them. If so, get another one of those, also.

JMHO, but I think it's best to start with a stock set up and then go with CV Performance upgrades as needed. See ad on the left of your screen . . . . I have a stage 1 upgrade and it works great on my ol' shovel.

Yeah, I already ordered another one, but when it comes in I'm still going to try tiging it just for my own satisfaction. It's what I do so there is no additional cost. Seems to me that if it works, it may help other people in the same situation. Just from reading on here, there must be alot of slides out there that could be reused. Thanks for all the input, and I will post the results from my experiment.

    Rick
