    Cheap mod

    This is a simple and inexpensive (about $7) mod that I did on my stock carb.
    I feel a big difference in low and mid range power.
    I had the S&S free flow air cleaner, and VH exhaust on but never
    felt this power, untill I did this carb mod.

    =================================================

    Replace stock needle jet with:
    New Needle jet HD part # 27094-88 for 88-89 Sportster.

    Turn idle mixture screw back out about ½ to 1 ½ turns.
    This is just a starting point. I have changed baffles a couple of times,
    and adjusted the idle screw accordingly.

    I ride a 2002 FXST with
    V&H Big Shots Staggered / quiet baffles
    S&S free flow air cleaner

    you didnt say what model bike , what else you have done to it, and what you want to achieve. The stock CV carbs are decent enough carbs for most app.. I recommend a performance exhaust, and a high flow air cleaner, and rejet your carb. If you start building the motor (cams, compression, inches) the Mikuni will be a big help.
