Just wondering. If I change my current stage 1setup on my 05 wideglide (already have a Big Sucker air cleaner, power commander, and Vance&Hines staggered bigshots) by adding a "screaming eagle" ignition module to allow the higher rev limit...do I need to adjust the fuel mixture or timing or anything. As usual HD is not big help by saying, "just let us put in on and don't worry," for the tune of about $115 plus parts but I like trying things myself first, it seems simple from the installation side. Just do not want to destroy anyting by gross ignorance and I can not get a straight answer from HD.

    Ignition

Sounds like the typical B.S from Harley. Save yourself some money and put it on yourself.
It sould be just fine as it is.

All of them are fixed maps unless you get the adjustable ignition. Its simply a plug and play mod...don't let those jackoffs take you for any more money. If you are running lean already it may make it slightly leaner because the timing is slightly advanced I think...but if you're jetting is fine now, you're good to go.

    You just gotta wonder...

You have a PC installed right? That means you have EFI right? There is no Screeching Beagle ignition box.

They are trying to sell you the Stage I flash which does some recurving of the fuel and timing and raises the RPM limiter.

Stock and most street cams are all done by 4500-5000 RPM. So, 5200 RPM is just fine for a limiter. Sure, you can twist it higher but there is less power and it is hard on the valve train.
If you elect to have it installed H-D will have to do it as it requires a scanalyzer to load the new program into your ECU. Then, you have to find the correct PC map and install it in the PC.

If you are going to install higher RPM cams etc then it makes sense.

Oops sorry, I didn't catch where you said you had a power commander. I'd follow CD's advice unless you have a cam and head work that will allow you to make power up there. The stock twin cam heads are very restricted and won't be able to keep up with the breathing past 5000 rpm anyway.

    Thanks...

Thanks guys for the info. As usual I get the "straight scoop" from you guys. H-D can keep their "box" and I will keep my money...maybe a new piece of chrome intstead....
