I am putting a 05 Fat Boy wheel on my 02 Heritage the 02 has 3/4 bearings and the 05 has 1 inch bearings. Can I put the 3/4 bearings and inner spacer in the 05 wheel, if so what is the correct way to do this swap? Thanks, Joe

That’s a good question twincammer, I would think that they are not interchangeable, the races would be different. One way to find out is to set the race into the wheel and see if it fits. Or just get a caliper and measure the two race and see if there the same diameter. Maybe someone who has done this before will chime in.
    Good luck.

    Changing Bearings -------------

This may not what your looking for, but you could measure the outer diameter of the axle shaft to determine the correct size for the inner race of that axle. Then measure the opening of the bearing race housing on the wheel. This will give you one way of mating the wheel to the axle. If you are not able to purchase the bearings necessasary for that application from your local bike shop, you should be able to locate the bearings at probably any bearing supplier. Doing it this way the spacers may fit or you might have to modify or change them also. Don't forget measure, measure, it will save alot of time and grief.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't bearing and race need to match? If not, disaster is soon to follow. If both do, simply mock up spacers with 1" PVC and once you get it right, cut new ones from 6" stainless spacer from local scoot shop. You can also measure off the difference from the old spacers, add the difference from the old bearings to new, and take those measurements to a machine shop to have spacers cut. Did that make any sense? ....had tooo much coffee today....

    3/4 Bearings

You can buy a sealed bearing that fits the 3/4 inch axel. Don't know the part number but the parts guy at your dealer should. I know my parts guy has it in his little black reference book. It's a no brainer, take out the 1 inch bearings and put in the 3/4 inchers.
