I have too much fun making up hand signals. Granted, it's not perfect, but I don't think that's what's ruined any of my relationships so far.

Me too, wife says I am working without tools when I start thinking. That wonderful human just might be on to something.

Never used any kind of radio comms on the bike. A few hand signals, some only the folks I ride with know a couple are pretty well universal and generally saved for cages. Have become much better at charades since getting the bike :D .

My wife being hard of hearing has no bearing on me .I can still hear her just fine when I listen. Problem is she can not hear me. Works good sometimes if I am buying something new for the bike I tell her on her left side. If it anything she needs to konw I tell her on the right side.
