I had a problem a month ago when I hit the starter button, I would get a click and the lights would go out. It did this for several days and then it wouldn't do anything. Git a jump and it started right up. Replaced the battery and no problems for a month, now it is doing it again. Anything I need to check??

Look for loose battery cables, check at the battery, starter and frame.

The alternator may not be charging the battery, so do what HRK says and check the cables/connections. Also, if you jump start it again see if the lights get brighter with a little rev of the engine. If not, that alternator ain't doing the job (don't mean it is bad, could just be wiring/connection).

Do you have the service manual? THis is likely a simple problem to troubleshoot in person and with the manual.

I will check the cables when I get home and yes the service manual was the first thing I bought after I got the bike in 2002. i like to do my own work. I put in an oil temperature gauge on Sunday, but everything worked good on Monday. I had to replace the alternator a copy of years back. Thanks,

    Using your manual;check the stator(ALTERNATOR)output(ac-current).
Check your "rectifier"(voltage regulator)...these fail often.
The above would be additions to the already mentioned items to check.
Loose connections can fool you to think a component is bad when it's not.
You could also perform some voltage drop testing around suspected components &/or connections(this may be a little more of a technical diag. procedure for the do it yourself-er though).
Best way to start,Get the "factory" service manual.Regards,00 wildglide.
