Hello, I've been looking over the tech section for information
on a new Air filter / Stack set up im considering buying.

I have concerns and questions I hope can get answered here.

I'm allways looking for a minimalist look and replacing large parts
on my bike with smaller ones. I realy like the look off the
Roland Sands Designs™ Nostalgic Velocity Stack. The heavy
breather and other setups are huge in comparrison.

My biggest concern with the stack set up is the lack of filtration
and the possible negetive effects it could have on the engine.

I just came back fron a trip to Hampton Beach N.H. and there
were many bikes with the stack set up. Am I getting all worked up
    about it for nothing?

I did get a chance to talk to one dude that had the set up and
he said there was a filter inside. But reading about the set up the
only filtration is the mesh screen in the front. Other websites selling
the stack actually have the fact in red.

Im looking to buy and install a new set up by this thursday
or friday. Id prefer the stack because of the minimalist look
but I dont want to shorten my engines lifespan. Theres only 9k
miles on it. Im looking at the heavy breather with the bullet cap
because it seems practical and provides ample filtration.
Again, Id prefer the RS Stack. Hopefully I can get some feedback.

I talked to the Techs at the dealership andthe only concern seemed
to be the intake wanting to eat your pants. I can deal with leg placement
if thats all I have to worry about.

Stacks are for looks and the track..

If you run a bike any distance at all get
something with a filter. Sands has some filter
based units that are pretty cool, same for Ness.

Also I've ridden a chopper with a stack and it was
always in the way and liked to suck the side of my
    jeans into the opening.

Yin, I have a D&M set up on my ride. I LOVE IT! Looks awesome, easy to install, and works great. You will be very happy with it. If you do not buy it off of ebay, I live only 30 min. from D&M Customs Cycles. Also, there is another place that to where you can buy them. When you buy that, make sure that you get the bracket right away. They do not give the mounting brackets away, I paid $275 for it plus the amount of the intake unit. You are looking at about 6 bills either way. I have a the Spike Series.

That Spike really sucks the air too. When I was getting the carb work done, my indy guy said that he could just hear that unit suck in the air. I also like it because the filter is a K&N washable. Cannot go wrong with that.

Parts will be in monday or Tuesday. I was at the dealership for over an
hour pondering dropping all that cash.. I ordered a couple pieces of the
skull series stuff. one for the carb cover and another for the end of the
heavy breather I decided to get. The bullet set up is gonna have to wait.
Couldnt justify the cost when I can get the same performance from
the screamin heavy breather set up. So I ended up saving over 3 beans.

I was going through the catalogs trying to find the size of the K&N filter
in the SE Heavy Breather to see if I could buy the bullet cover in the future.
Couldnt find a size on the bullet cover or the filter size ><

Would be cool to be able to buy the bullet cover and slap it on there when
    I'm ready for it.
I know H-D is comming out with covers for it but not the bullet style unfortunately.
They all have a flat end on em..

I have seen many people put the SE socks on because those things suck in so much air. Either way, i think you made a good choice.

very nice system, i like it with out the cone on the end.
which system is that, I 've got a few hundred chrome bucks from H-D that I wouldn't mind spending on something like that. Can you tell me the base price, with out the skull stuff?

I think without the other stuff I got it was under 300 bucks
    for the breather.

I should take more pictures of my ride. I have only a few.
Have to figure out how to transfer some from my iPhone.
Heres one from a short run I did with a couple friends of
    mine.
