Change oil on Friday use 20W-50. This morning I noticed a little value train noise when I first started it up and noticed that the oil pressure is only around 25. This is when it was cold, once warm idle goes down to about 10 and I only get 25 at 3,000 rpms. Is this okay or is something fixing to go bad? 2002 Ultra Classic, 62,320 miles, 95 inch big bore, SE 203 cams, everything else stock. Thanks,:witsend:

So I take it this only happened after the oil change? If so what type oil and filter did you use.

What was the oil pressure before changing. Synthetic oil can make for more noise.

I have been using synthetic for about three years now. I changed it on Friday and today was the first day I noticed the noise and low pressure. Just wondering if the cam chain tensioners were going bad and needed to change them again. i last change them at about 24,000 miles when I put in the big bore kit.

If you had of went with the new cam plate, you would of gotten a new style oil pump. Better oil pressure.

Did you check the oil pump o rings when you did the cams ?

Does seem strange that just changing the oil would do that. Did you change to a different brand oil?

I don't like SE SYN oil, I use Mobile1 V-Twin Syn oil in mine. Had a top builder here in the area recommend it.

Know we can git in a debate and drag a lot of folks in it. Mobile one is good oil.
Most folks like oil because of the price they can git it for and the money they make off it.
    But most people has choices.

    Nobody is a Oil engineer.

I talked with a Oil engineer one time, he said any synthetic oil would be better than Dino Oil. To keep the oil and filter changed on a regular basis.

Over the years I ran nothin but Harley Dino oil and changed it every 3000 miles.
Never, never, never had a oil related problem

I ran amsoil and mobile one in the last bike. The bearings in the tranny went out.
I've ran Syn oil and I like the way the bike sounds, and like how the oil feels when it comes out.

There's nothin wrong with Syn oil.

What ever works then its the right oil for you. I'm still wondering if he switched brands of oil, does seem odd though.

    Syn 3 isn't a syn, it's a semi syn, a blend...
Its also manufactured for HD by Hugo Chavez's oil
consortium, so basically by running Syn3 you
show you support communism, Marxist and Keynesian economics
as well as Obama's wealth redistribution philosophy.

So you are not running a synthetic...

    Mobil1, Amsoil, are fully synthetic.

If your oil pressure is lower and you did nothing mechanical
it might be the fact that the syn flows better also it's warmer out
engine temps are higher, oil may be flowing better.

I doubt it's a problem my bike lowers pressure at idle and when warm.

Hd has both semi synthetic and full synthetic oil.

And when you talk of Syn 3 Oil being produced by Hugo Chavez and what he stands for.
Yer oil come from the Middle east.

How many people from the U.S. has Hugo killed.

How many people from the U.S. has the people you git oil from in the middle east killed.

I'd rather have oil from Brazil than the middle east.

Our people in the U.S. don't want us to have our own oil. There are too many regulations. Git used to it.

I can't easily go pick up any oil where I live. But I can easily stop in at the HD dealer and pick up oil

    synthetic
    1. of, involving, or using synthesis
    2. produced by synthesis; specif., produced by
chemical synthesis, rather than of natural origin
    3. not real or genuine; artificial

Does this mean it is not really oil but some slimy oil looking stuff we use for oil?
    Just Asking?
I use AMS(slim)OIL. have for many years. It does smell like oil and leaves a slimy mess when I spill some. Some like it some don't,

Nope Mobil 1 has nothing from the middle east
it's SYNTHETIC, no crude and from what I understand
it's base is baby seal oil. mmmmmmm!

HD has NO full synthetic oils, Syn 3 is a blend, like it
or not your money is going to Hugo Chavez and its not
Brazil it's Venezuela oil, very Marxist very commie
might as well be riding a Honda or Kawasaki
wearing a Red Sun Rising Cap and shouting Tora Tora Tora!

HarleySlr, try cooking with wesson or canola oil
less issues with slimy stuff, and no p-nut problems...
