Well do far this has been the year of firsts. Bald Eagles Used to be seen from time to time here on Long Island. Usually they are just sight seeing. Now we have them nesting! Great news!!! You may have seen on the news that coyotes have been seen on Manhattan Island (NYC) and Queens County (also NYC, but on the western end of Long Island). This week coyotes have been observed in my area out east on Long Island. Soon wooly mamouth will be here.

We've had Coyotes here sense the very beginning of time. Used to have a bounty on them and shot one with a 8mm Mauser while deer hunting on the coast one year. $20.00 bounty on them, wasn't worth all the effort.

No coyotes here as far as I know, but we have golden eagles and the occasional black bear. Saw a golden eagle sitting on a fence post as I was riding one day. It took off before I got up too close.

Those Golden Eagles are very beautiful birds. We have them here and had one sitting up in one of our Douglas Fir trees one year watching my wife's cat when it was a kitten. She put it in the house real quick. We also have Bald Eagles here and quit often see one circling overhead.
