CB talked me into posting this up. Here's the story...

    Here's the bike specs
06 Ultra Classic, 95", Andrews 26N, D&D Fatcat, PCIII, Deweys Heads, ADJST Push-Rods

    Here's what's/is/was going on.

Over the last month or so I was getting a bad vibration in the bars and the fairing. Well, I checked the simple stuff first and the two horizontal fairing brackets where broke. Easy fix, yep, DONE!

After that the bars and the fairing just kept shaking like no tomorrow. Between 1800-2300 rpm the fairing was shaking so bad I could read the speedo. At idle the thing was shaken so bad my teeth hurt. Checked top and front motor mount. All is well.

Well I pulled the cams today and checked the runout. .009" at the most.

    Here's what I found today.

Some good scaring and burnt metal there on the end of the shaft

Anyone got a 88 "A" crank that might be willing to part ways with? Know where one is at in the mid-WA to Portland area?

Not sure what my next step is going to be here. That S&S crank is might tempting. Having the crank re-trued is the most economical route tho.

There is a Harley salvage yard in Portland with a ton of parts including cranks.
It's called Latus Salvage, might be a good idea to check with them. They really do have more parts than you could ever imagine.

I'd check with Darkhorse Crank Works, they just built me a nice custom crank for a 103. If ya got to split the case you won't be sorry for stroking it. At least give them a call, they are quick and very good at what they do.

Yeah CB, I think the crank is still good enough to be rebuilt. Rev Perf. and Darkhorse are the top two on the list to send the crank too.

Well as I said the Latus salvage yard for Harley's if you just want to replace items is a great place to start. Lot cheaper to for you. They are only about 100 lies or less to the south of you.

Yep. Gunnah give them a call next week and see what they got. I'll be down that way for Thanksgiving in Battle Ground.

I checked it again today and it seemed to read between .005"-.007"... Gunnah take back the dial indicator that I got with the flexable arm and get the one that has the solid arms.

here are a few pics of the back of the cam plate and the gyro gears in the oil pump.

Add R&R to your list of possible crank repair vendors. If you can get your hands on a 4.375" crank at the salvage place and have it reworked by one of the crank shops with good rods, trued, balanced and welded, you will thank yourself later. If you don't stroke it now, you will be kicking yourself later. You have the lower unit out; take full advantage of it now.

If I remember correctly the 4 3/8 crank out of a 96cu motor won't work in a 88cu motor, Right.

You would have to make many changes and the cost would really build. Might be best to find a used 88 crank.
