Today was the first time that I have used my cruise control. Is it normal for it to herk and jerk once it is set? If it is, I hate it. If not, what is wrong with it?

When I set it it sounded like it was cutting in and out. I wasn't losing speed, but it was like it was accelerating then decelerating to maintain speed? I guess herky jerky was a bad was to describe it.

how much variation in speed are you getting? The cruise is trying to keep the bike's speed on the set point so you will get some modulation.

JB you have a carb or EFI

I think your model has the cable driven throttle
and cable driven cruise, the cable might need some
lube, it should adjust speed going up and down hills
but on level roads it shouldn't do much as far as you feel.

If you take the PC and hookup to the new EFI throttle
by wire an monitor the throttle under cruise you see it
constantly adjusting but you don't feel it doing it.

Sleepy and HRK, like I had alluded to, I am not really losing speed, I just hear variation in engine pitch. The particular spot that I was in. I am not sure what the actual trajectory was, but it wasn't flat.

My bike is carbed. So are you suggesting to lube them?

    Cruise control normal operation

Front wheel going up hill, vroom vroom go slower, throttle open give heap more fuel
make JB bike stay same speed.

Front wheel going down hill, vroom vroom go faster, easier , throttle roll off, or JB go to fast get ticket from da man, use heap less fuel.

    that is all...

Another reason I really like my TBW.

My cruise control is totally great. Lets me relax my right arn and hand every now and then.

If'n you slow yer young pace of life down a couple hundred miles an hour.

You might find some things when you've rode yer bagger long enough what all its great for.
you don't learn it all on a few weeks.

According to what kind of riding you do.
All in all a bagger is hard to beat.

Just realize, for the time you've been riding. For you to be on a Bagger.
    You have advanced yerself.
Most folks take a long time to make their way to a bagger.

Once you ride one for a while. You can git on other bikes and they are Zippy and all, but It ain't like Styling in a Lincoln dude......

    Baggers Rock........
