I've been looking at Harley Davidson's Aermachi SS350 and 250's on ebay and Craigslist. I'm interested in knowing more about them, best years, most desirable features, known quirks/problems. Anyone here have any experience with one? I'd like it as a local runabout, not as a replacement for my Street Bob.

That sounds like it was fun. I was also wondering if it would be difficult to put forward controls on it.

This is a rolling chassis of the 1973, I'll keep trying until I find a better image I can capture.

Well the bikes were made in Italy and brought of here by Harley! They run great and a good friend in SE Wi about 38 miles from the Harley Motherland aka...Milwuakee has a ton of them....he still races a 350 in vintage flat track races around there! He has them hanging on the walls in his house....He is a major Aermachi guy and has parts and bikes in and out all the time! He has a nice collection of V-Twin bikes too!

I can call him to see if he has any parts or complete bikes for sale! I did get parts from him for a friend restoring one in Denver and its a great runaround town bike !

Thanks 59, I'd really appreciate a contact with Sprint experience if you'd be kind enough to get me in touch with your friend. I'm not planning on buying one soon though. I figure I'll do some research, find out which model/year/color/features are considered the most desirable, and hopefully buy one late spring/summer. That's assuming I'm not out of work like I was last summer.. ugghh..

If you can find a American Iron magazine Sept 2009 they have a small article on the bike you are askin about in the magazine dude, and a couple pictures. HD 250 Sprint on page 100.
I know you can order back issues on the magazine.

if the bikes were designed to compete with the british iron and flat track, the shifter will probably be on the right side......brake on the left. not sure tho.......

also, the bike on ebay doesnt have the front downtubes like the one you posted........without the down tube it may be a little more difficult to add forward controls.....

they where not worth a tinkers d-- then, and you would have a lot of trouble keeping them going then. let alone now. i may be wrong, just my own opinion.
