New guy here. I bought a CV Carb and bought an intake to fit an 87, XV535 . The carb has 185 and 46 jets I'm wondering what jets should I start with and what performance mods can be done on the carb for this bike. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm assuming that the 2 jets you list are an idle jet and a main jet, since the numbers are so far apart. If you have other ones you haven't listed, for example 2 pair, start with the pair that will run the richest in the carb, that way there's no chance of damage to your engine from running too lean a mixture. if doing that results in black smoke coming out of the pipes, or if it runs "bogged down", change to the next leaner jet until it runs correctly.
I recommend CV Performance products. I bought the deluxe tuners kit,

for my '98 Softtail Custom and I can't believe how much improvement I gained from it. The "popping" I was getting through my exhaust stopped, and when I "crack" the throttle the bike really takes off now!! It was the best money I spent on that bike so far!!

Thank you, that is the route I'm planning on going, should I start with a kit from the 883 series bikes?

When I wrote that I didn't realize you weren't riding a Harley. If they make one for your bike I would go with that, otherwise I'd look else ware for a performance kit for your bike. Sorry for the confusion
