I just picked up a 40mm cv carb off of ebay. I;m going to put it on a 82 sportster I;m building for my son. I put 10 t0 1 pistons in the motor; R5 andrews exhaust cams;. elelbrock intake cams; single fire ignition. The carb came off a 93 softtail. Would the stock jets work in this motor??? And the voes crap do I really need to hook that up??? I had a 40mm bendix with adj main jet on it; never had any luck trying to tune one with that carb.

I would not use the jets that came with the carb for that sportster. I would start at a 46 pilot and a 180 main. Just a starting point.

Depends on what the cv came off of I would double check the jets though

and what jets are in the carb plus needle, someone before you could have worked on it, is the Idle air screw cover removed so you can adjust the idle fuel mix?
