I just recently had a problem with my 1998 CV Carb on my 80 CI EVO, where I believe the float must have got stuck and then just started overflowing fuel out the overflow hose from the bowl. There was also fuel coming out the bottom of the intake throat where the air cleaner mounts.

I banged on the bowl a few times to see if that would unstick it but it didnt work. So I had to take the bowl off (on the road) and see what was happening. Float was fine, no holes in it, kinda wiggly(?) so all I could think was that it was a bumpy road and maybe it got jammed somehow? Worked fine the rest of the way home.

Im wondering if anybody has experienced this before?

    Thanks

Your needle and seat may be worn, if they wear then they get smaller and it is harder for it to seat so if it happens again it might be worth replacing but if it doesnt hapen again it just may have been a piece of crap under the needle, sometimes you can turn the fuel off and run the bike till it stalls and then turn the fuel back on and that sometimes flushes the piece of crap out, Todd

Yep, I'm with duke76. That sounds like the needle failing to seat properly, either from age/wear or junk in carb getting in the way.
